"Support Actions for the Emergence of a Research-Driven Automotive Cluster in West Romania" WeSteer - Support Actions for the Emergence of a Research-Driven Automotive Cluster in West Romania is a collaboration project between the following partners: West Regional Development Agency, Politechnica University in Timişoara, Interpart Production SRL and Tehimpuls. On March 27, 2008, the WeSteer Project Launching Conference took place, attended by over 25 representatives of the academic world and automotive companies in the West Region. The event enjoyed the presence of Ms. Gabriele Rose, representing the Directorate General for Research of the European Commission, and was chaired by Mr. Sorin Maxim, managing director of ADR Vest. The project contained activities such as the drawing up of the automotive sector report (existing literature review, study among the companies, and the assessment of the existing technological supply) and the creation of the cluster's management unit. For this purpose, the first steps have been taken to identify and validate the relevant technology offers in the Tehimpuls portfolio. A preliminary selection of the relevant automotive offers has already been done; the proposals have been validated by experts from the Politehnica University of Timişoara. Another result of the project was the cooperation procedure between companies and RDI centres (research, development, and innovation), capturing the current state of the cooperation between these entities and suggesting possibilities for improving the relation between the industry and the research field. |
